The University Counseling Center (UCC) provides a comprehensive initial assessment and an individualized treatment plan to full-time members of the University of Rochester community who pay the mandatory health fee. Based on the initial assessment, a treatment plan is developed by the clinician that addresses the client’s unique needs and concerns. This plan may include recommendations such as, but not limited to: group therapy, workshops, brief therapy, referrals to community provider for specialized treatment or longer term therapy services, TELUS Health, case management services, psychiatry or other campus services.

If you have someone you are concerned about, remember that UCC is available for consults 24/7, just call us or make use of the CARE Network to help someone get connected to all the support and UR services they need!

The UHS Health Promotion Office leads campus-wide health promotion action to advance a culture of well-being, cultivate student flourishing, and positively influence student health. Our team provides a variety of health education and wellness programs. We focus on the topics that are most meaningful to our student body, including health equity, mental well-being, mindfulness, nourishment and body image, sexual health, alcohol and other drugs, and sleep.

The University Health Service (UHS) provides confidential, high quality health care services for students and other members of the University community. The University Health Service offers a wide range of primary care services, including treatment for illnesses and injuries, management of ongoing medical problems, and care and advice for health concerns.

Part of the UHS Health Promotion, the Alcohol and Other Drug (AOD) Education Program is a multidimensional resource for students who have questions about reducing negative consequences associated with heavy, episodic drinking and other substance abuse.

In order to best serve the campus community, we collaborate with students and staff across the institution to create a comprehensive substance abuse prevention program focused on the health and safety of University of Rochester students using a harm reduction model.

TELUS Health is available 24/7 for urgent on demand support for mental health crises via text or phone. TELUS Health is a free and confidential remote service affiliated with the University that can be used regardless of students' geographical location (cross-country and international).

Everyone experiences difficulties throughout their college experience, but speaking up and asking for support can enable you or a fellow peer to build resilience and thrive. CARE is here for all students at the UR. Whether you are seeking support for a friend, or yourself, we encourage you to submit a CARE Referral to connect with appropriate forms of support and resources to maintain wellness and achieve goals.

CARE can be of assistance by supplying students with options for support while also aiding individuals who support the student in need.

At Rochester, the CARE Network helps to identify students in, or heading toward, distress. With timely and appropriate support, we can ensure our students have access to the resources and services they need to thrive. As members of the UR community, we rely on you—the eyes and ears of our campus—to help make sure our students are supported.

The Mindful University Project is an interdisciplinary collaboration with a mission to empower our campus community to build a culture of mindful presence and compassion. They offer a variety of programming and initiatives for the University community, such as learn to meditate classes, silent meditation retreats, daily yoga classes, the Mindful Professor Training Program for professors, and more!
