Our Mission
The mission of the Warner School Writing Support Services is to create a supportive atmosphere for dialog about the writing process. Our consultants are readers engaged in students' writing, and offer a non-directive, responsive approach to providing students with the strategies needed to learn productive habits in all stages of writing.

Our Views on Academic Writing
We view academic writing as a social practice, meaning that academic writing is part of the cultural practices of the academic community. The different modes we write in (argumentative, reflective, analytical, etc.) and the conventions we use (literature reviews, citations, etc.) are ways that we negotiate membership into that community.

We view academic writing as a process. That is, the first draft of a piece of writing should not be the final draft, and multiple revisions are not only acceptable but expected.

In addition to consulting services, we also offer a series of single-topic workshops on Friday afternoons and Saturday mornings. Students and faculty are welcome to drop in on one or more of these workshops.

Scheduling Information
For the first two weeks of the fall and spring semester, Writing Support Services offers limited individual consulting hours. Starting from the third week of each semester, the Writing Support Services will offer regular consulting hours. Visit our scheduling system for information. If all appointments are taken or if none of the available hours work for you, please email the WSS Coordinator.
